We are almost a week into the year, so I suppose I am overdue for some predictions.
Music: Emo's popularity peaked in 2005. Many bands will attempt to follow this "genre" in 2006 and find that it just isn't what makes the money anymore. The whinier you are, the more of a poser you will be seen as.
Web 2.0: Many more superfluous AJAX applications will come into being over the year. Soon you'll be able to click-and-drag taggable recipes and bookmark your favorite user-submitted museum artifacts, which you will then be able to look up on a flashy commentable map utilizing Google's Google Maps API.
Politics: Everyone hates on Bush. The world keeps on spinning.
Television: Lost will start sucking. There's no way a show can be so good for so long.
Webcomics: Checkerboard Nightmare will start, then stop. Then start. And then stop. The world keeps on spinning.
What do think popular culture will yield in 2006?
